Buying guide: how to choose a cash counting machine
Match the machine to how much cash you handle and how mixed your notes are.
-
Note counters: count stacks of a single denomination quickly. A good fit for shops, restaurants and petrol stations. See bill counters.
-
Mix value counters: read the value of each note so you can count mixed denominations and get a total in one pass, such as the Cassida Xpecto or Nigachi mix value counters.
-
Sorters: two-pocket and multi-pocket machines from Hitachi, Glory, Kisan and Cassida sort notes by denomination, orientation or fitness. Used by banks and exchange houses.
-
Counterfeit detection: look for UV, MG (magnetic) and IR detection; CIS image sensors give the most thorough checks.
-
Currencies: make sure the machine supports AED plus any other currencies you handle.
We also stock coin counters and money detectors.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between a note counter and a value counter?
A note counter counts the number of notes. A value counter also recognises each denomination, so it gives you the total amount of a mixed stack.
Do these machines detect counterfeit AED notes?
Models with UV, MG and IR detection check the security features of each note and stop when a suspect note is found. Higher-end models use CIS image sensors for more thorough checks.
Can the machine count multiple currencies?
Many value counters and sorters support several currencies, such as AED and USD. Check the product details or ask us about the currencies you need.
Which machine is right for a bank or exchange house?
Banks and exchange houses usually need a two-pocket or multi-pocket sorter with fitness sorting and CIS detection, such as the Hitachi or Kisan range.
